Patrick , i put the question because 1.2 was released in october , someone say in this thread , but mplayer recompiled 2 or 3 times , the same svn version ,and no get 1.2 in this 2 moths. (1.2 stable release)

Then i think , i missing something important like compatibility with other libs/programs or something.
Its only that , thinking im lost something.

2015-10-03, Saturday :: MPlayer 1.2 released

Hey but no think bad , this thread is to "suggest" .. no problem if maintain the svn version , is working well.

Thanks Patrick , Robby Workman , eric and developers help to put slackware up to date.

@chrisretusn

I think you no understand.

Actually have a svn version of Mplayer 20150721 recompiled 4 times. 2015-07-21

After --> 2015-10-03, Saturday :: MPlayer 1.2 released

And no enter to slackware , mantaining th svn version.

Then now , when a 1.2.1 released , i think , why no? , thats all.

Actually there is a simple explanation if you look at the xine-lib.SlackBuild as well as the MPlayer.SlackBuild.

Xine uses the ffmpeg sources from the MPlayer directory.
Mplayer repository check-outs do not contain the ffmpeg sources, so Pat adds a separate ffmpeg source tarball which works with both MPlayer and Xine.
A release tarball of MPlayer on the other hand, contains an embedded ffmpeg. The xine-lib.SlackBuild would have to be updated to use a separate copy of ffmpeg (expanding the size of the source DVD with 7 MB) because there is no guarantee that the embedded ffmpeg is actually working well with Xine.
So Pat checks out a 20160125 repository snapshot of MPlayer which is in fact identical to the 1.2.1 release.

--with-passfile=.alpine.passfile
