To start here are two useful links for using XDMCP

So here is the situation boys and girls, I am really just frustrated; I can not seem to get ratpoison running on a remote headless (with out monitor) system.
So here are the specs: Slackware 64 13.37 (dual-core desktop) running like a dream, can use other WM just not ratpoison, currently running xfce. (192.168.1.200)
Story is I modified my KDM as per directions, now I can use my Slackware Netbook to
Code:
X -query 192.168.1.200 :1
and access the remote server.
KDE,XFCE and other WM work fine but ratpoison just launches and nothing works.
--Mind you vncserver "ratpoison works correctly"
What happens in Ratpoison is it starts up but all commands including xterm or konsole just respond with: finished
/bin/sh -c "/usr/bin/konsole" finished (255)
--anything I try responds this way, firefox, thunderbird, xterm. etc It does not seen to matter if I path it or try without path.
Some things I tried without success
I thought it was KDM so I switched to XDM same deal.
I removed and re-installed the slackpkg (from good folks at slackbuilds.org) same deal.
I whipped out my .ratpoisonrc and created a new user to demo with same deal.
So I'm looking for suggestions if anyone has any. My suspicion is it has something to do with the remote action (XDMCP). I'm going to try with a local monitor and keyboard. *and report back*
-Thinking it will work because ratpoison works over VNC.
At the end of the day the cli is "king" and I can use xfce so I'm really ok. I am just trying to switch to ratpoison (like a frame of mind)
