Question about new install

I just installed Slackware 14.1 64 Bit. I installed the Kernel 3.10.17 stuff too. I then goto /usr/src/linux and do a make menuconfig. The default settings in that .config is for the generic or huge kernel?

The default configuration file is actually in /boot.

Menuconfig doesn't really have a preset but just the general defaults.

Defconfig does a general architecture config. Oldconfig uses an existing and asks for unset new settings. Olddefconfig is a mix of the two.

Is this what you meant?

Neither, as said ReaperX7. If you want to use a Slackware config file you should copy as .config in /usr/src/linux, either /boot/config-generic-3.10.17 or /boot/config-huge-3.10.17, run make oldconfig then do your customization. See Building a Linux Kernel from Source.

Unless you created an initrd and configured your boot manager to use it (which I think you would remember), you are using huge.
