Hello Everyone

I just moved to a new home, and after getting all my equipment set back up, I find that cups is not acting as it should. I usually use KDE's printer set up tools because they have always worked in the past. However, cups now starts very slowly and the KDE printer tools react very slowly in bringing up printer tools.

This is a network printer I am trying to set up. It is attached to a desktop running Ubuntu. It has always worked flawlessly in the past, but I found this trouble when the IP address of the desktop changed and I attempted to edit the printer in Slackware (i.e. change the ipp address.)

When I try to open the configuration tools, I get a pop-up error saying that no driver for this printer could be found. So, I attempt to delete the printer and start over, but the REMOVE option is greyed out. I tried from my browser with the admin at localhost:631, and that would not allow me permission.

Basially, I just want to set up the new printer location with:

My books with the lpadmin commands I can use are still packed away, so I was hoping I could get someone who knows how to do this from the command line might give me hand with this. I am still using 12.1 (but with the 2.6.27 kernel.)

SOLUTION FOUND

Thanks for reading, but it apparently solved itself. When I opened a document and tried to print, it automatically found the network printer and added it for me with the correct ipp information. Wow....Slack and Linux never cease to amaze me.
