Hello all,
Not noticed this one before, so I don't know if other linux distros are affected. Ok, here's the oddity -- maybe a bug (I am not sure) I've noted with slackware 13 and KDE 3.5.10!

Here's the oddity/bug though. Try this; perform a normal slackware install with X but without any X window managers. Download the packages in the link above then use pkgtool to set up the fonts, choose KDE 3 as the default X window manager, etc.
Then restart the computer and go into X and let KDE 3 startup. Set it up (on first run it'll ask you a few questions such as regarding graphics peformance, allowing fewer settings for slower systems, etc).
Once that's all set up restart and set the KDE Panel (at the bottom of the screen) to 50% for length, and set the position to middle bottom. The KDE panel at the bottom of the screen will now be in the middle with its icons (K icon, Home directory, etc). Say 'ok' to these settings.
Close any windows and programs running and then either log out or restart. Let X and KDE 3 load up again.
The KDE panel and its icons will still be where they were last time, in the centre at the bottom of the scren. Now click on the little blue "K" icon (it's the first one) just once.
But what happened to the K menu? It is off centre and has been shoved right over to the left-hand side of the screen - in the *wrong* place! Get rid of the menu again and click the little blue "K" icon again. The K menu now appears correctly, just above the "K" button.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a bug? Or is it just a problem in the slackware packages?
