permission denied /dev/snd for non root users


I get a permission denied /dev/snd I tried setting permission to read write others
on the next boot it was back to R/W owner R/W group only
sound works great for root
but it's permission denied /dev/snd for users

how do I fix this

Instead of trying to modify /dev/snd, have you tried adding the non-root users to the audio group? If not, please see the stickied thread at the beginning of this forum regarding HAL for more info.

I just thought that was how to fix this and came back to this thread
