Slackware 10.1 rc.inet1 understands only network interfaces whose names start with "eth". In Slackware 10.2 I added support for arbitrary names.
What you can do if you don' want to upgrade your Slackware, is to grab the rc.inet1* and rc.wireless* scripts from http://www.slackware.com/~alien/rc_scripts/ since they will also work on Slackware 10.1, or add commands to the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local to bring your interface u. Something like (out of my head)
Code:
iwconfig ra0 mode managed
iwconfig ra0 key "s:yourwepkey"
iwconfig ra0 essid YOURESSID
dhcpcd -d -t 30 ra0

great stuff, thanks Eric

PS. I might be wrong, but I see the 10.2 "thing" as a re-install, not an upgrade, so I'm hanging around for 11.0. That's the, erm, logic. Twisted some might say. In my newbie-ness, I don't understand all this slack-current stuff.
