No sound with Kernel 2.6.7

I just noticed that I don't have any sound under the 2.6.7 kernel. I do have sound when I boot kernel 2.4.26. I have installed alsa-driver-1.0.5a_2.6.7-i486-1.tgz that was included in the testing folder where I found the 2.6.7 kernel. I ran alsamixer, but I still don't have sound.

Any one have any thoughts?

Not sure what you are looking for?

If you are trying to run alsaconfig or alsamixer, you need to be in a terminal or console window.

in a console, all you need to type is alsaconfig
it will search out and give you options to determine your sound.

After than run alsamixer in the console to open up your sound properties. Using the arrow keys you can raise or lower any of the sound options. ESC key closes alsamixer

does that help?
