I ran alsaconf, it seemed to work correctly, said everything was setup properly, but I have no sound.
I have slack10, K7S8X with the inbuilt sis sound controller. The module that was selected to be used by alsa was intel8x0. Everything is loaded as u can see (`lsmod`) but I still have no sound. Any ideas?
I've decided to disable the kde sound thinking that might be taking control of the sound, but that didn't help either.
ttilt it's loading the wrong driver, I bet it's because your kernel's too old to support the SiS controller. Consider upgrading to kernel 2.6.9, but if you do make sure you update module-init-tools to v3.0
yea im about to upgrade to 2.6.9, I'll let u guys know how it goes.
btw.: If I update, should I removepkg the alsa drivers, utils etc that comes w/ slack 10, since the new kernel already comes w/ the drivers ? I know the new kernel doesn't come w/ the alsa-utils, so I could let that in. Let me know what u think.
actually i just realized that slack10 already comes w/ alsa 1.05, so shouldn't that mean that upgrading the kernel wouldn't matter in terms of sound? After all, the new kernel's drivers are actually a lower version of alsa.
