No network card loaded

i can't seem to get my network up...

lspci -a | grep ethernet says:

03:08.0 Ethernet Controller Intel Corporation 82562ET/EZ/GT/GZ - PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller (rev.03)

this is on a dell dimension 4700.

ifconfig only lists a loopback device.
during install i had the network configured with DHCP.

running Slackware 12

Post the output of `ifconfig -a`, `lsmod`, and `route -n`. I believe that card uses the e100 module. Make sure e100 is listed in your lsmod output (and also make sure that e1000, eepro, eepro100, etc. are NOT listed). If it isn't, you may wish to add the following line to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules-$(uname -r):
Code:
/sbin/modprobe e100
However, it would be best to test out the module first before adding it to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules*. If the e100 module is NOT listed in your lsmod output, try the following command (as root):
Code:
# modprobe e100
Then make sure that an interface other than lo is listed in your `ifconfig -a` output. Then run `netconfig` as root to try and setup your network again (or just type `/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart` if you think your network is setup properly).
