well...that's strange
...and the very same thing is working ok in win ? ( i guess so...)

maybe try to ping like this :

ping -I 10.0.0.151 10.0.0.138

( ...151 =ip of my eth0 and ...138=address you want to ping =here my router )

otherwise maybe you can paste the output of some commands to a file,
copy that to a win-partition and post it here.
if that's possible...?
the output of :
-#dmesg |grep eth
-#ifconfig
-#lsmod
-#route
-and the file /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf

Yeah, sounds really strange. I just can't ping it in Slackware, while it is working fine in Windows.

I will post the results later. Thanks.

Maybe after an hour or so...I just can't shut down my computer at the moment. I am stuck here.

are you setting up your eth as dhcp or static ip? If you are choosing dhcp, you need to have it installed or you will never get an ip address from your router. If you are in static, double check and make sure that your gateway ip is set to the ip address of your router. After you run netconfig, as root you need to type

/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 stop
/etc/rd.d/rc.inet1 start

and it will update your netconfig stuff.

I think its your birthday today busbarn. Happy birthday it is.

I use Static IP, and don't use a Router.

The stuff that you have mentioned was already posted, and I tried that, But no avail.

I will post the results of the commands that egag has told me to, in about half an hour now.

oh, and to get the info in a file from the commandline,
you can use:

-#dmesg |grep eth >data.txt
-#ifconfig >>data.txt
-#lsmod >>data.txt
-#route >>data.txt
-#cat /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf >>data.txt

that will put all in the new file "data.txt "

This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen.

Egag, when I was popping all the messages into those text files, everything went fine.

Then I just tried the

ping -I 10.0.0.151 10.0.0.138

I saw replies coming off.....

I then tried to ping the gateway. Again, there were replies coming back.

Then, i simply logged in to my ISP account, and here I am .......ON THE INTERNET.

This message comes from Slackware.

I restarted so many times, but I don't know what was so peculiar about this Restart!

Internet running fine now.

Do you want me to still post the results of the tests that you recommended?
