Network problem with Slack11 - kernel 2.6

Hi !
I'm using Slackware 11.0. I can connnect to the internet when using kernel 2.4. But i can't do it with kernel 2.6.
When used Slack 10.2. I can modprobe dfme to connect to the internet with kernel 2.6. But it didn't help with Slack 11.
And i've realized that : My internet connection worked after bootup, but stopped about one minute after that.
After I replug the cable from my modem to my NIC. It worked again. And, again stopped after about one minute.

Here's the result of the command $ping 10.0.0.2 (this's my gateway)
Code:
PING 10.0.0.2 (10.0.0.2) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 10.0.0.13 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From 10.0.0.13 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable
From 10.0.0.13 icmp_seq=4 Destination Host Unreachable

--- 10.0.0.2 ping statistics ---
7 packets transmitted, 0 received, +3 errors, 100% packet loss, time 5999ms
, pipe 3
Can any one help me ?

read /usr/src/linux/Documentation/networking/dmfe.txt.

hmm, let's try this:
put 'blacklist dmfe' at the end of /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
and then make a new executable file
/etc/rc.d/rc.netdevice
and put this into it: modprobe dmfe mode=1

if it doesn't work try the other modes:
Quote:
insmod dmfe mode=0 # Force 10M Half Duplex
insmod dmfe mode=1 # Force 100M Half Duplex
insmod dmfe mode=4 # Force 10M Full Duplex
insmod dmfe mode=5 # Force 100M Full Duplex

If it still doesn't work, I think the problem is with ipv6 (see last line of your dmesg)
As an experiment, you could try to disable ipv6 so that ipv4 is used.
I think this should do it: add

blacklist ipv6

to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

or alternatively add

alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off

to /etc/modprobe.conf

and reboot
you can always undo the change if it doesn't help

What does route say? The interface seems to be up and even lists traffic...
Are you using dhcp or something? Is it a cable/dsl modem you're using?

You might need to be root to use the route command. Could you also post your syslog?

Do you have an additional router or just the modem plugged into your box?

Just the modem.

Btw, Ubuntu 6.06 can detect my card and load dmfe module automatically. Slackware 11 with kernel 2.4 and 2.6 don't load that module. I don't know if this can help.

Are you sure the module is not loaded? You can chekc by typing lsmod. You can btw manually load the module with the modprobe command.

Yeah. I'm sure cause using lsmod. And I've tried modprobe too.
The line 'blacklist dmfe' exist in the blacklist file by default.

Well, I've fixed this.
When using Slax-5.1.8, I got the same problem. Suddenly, I think what's about rmmod tulip and modprobe dmfe. Well, It worked.
Now, I'm connect to the Internet using 2.6 kernel !

May be Slackware should fix this problem
