network configuration in slackintosh 12.1 on an iBook g4

I'm having problems setting up the ethernet network adapter on an ibook G4 running slackintosh 12.1. I was able to setup the xserver with kde.
I went to the settings> internet & network> network settings panel and tried to enable eth0 but i get a message stating
Code:
There was an error changing the deviceīs state. You will have to do it manually.
this is the output of ifconfig -a
Code:

I'm not familiar with slackintosh, but, did you try running this?

# netconfig

Please do not try to setup Slackware's networking using KDE's network manager. It will not work - worse, KDE will screw up Slackware's network scripts.

Learn how to edit
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
After all, this is still Slackware - you need to have a basic knowledge of the network configuration using Slackware's own scripts. Try not to rely on gui's only.

I did run
Code:
netconfig
And only after running the guiīs network conf did I read your not suppose to do it that way in slackware and itīs ports, (Iīm used to using Ubuntu which does allow you to configure the network using the gui). After which I reran netconfig but still nothing.
