NETGEAR MA111 w/ ndiswrapper works in Slackware 12.0 but not 12.2 and above.
Hi all, setting up my wireless usb device works perfectly in 12.0, but when I try on 12.2 or 13.0, I just cannot find the solution.
Whenever I get to 'modprobe ndiswrapper' I receive something like, "Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at _______" and then the stack trace. I must power off my computer or it just hangs there.
I've tried the latest version of ndiswrapper as well as slackbuilds validated for the slackware versions. I am wondering if CONFIG_4KSTACKS has something to do with it, but when I looked in /usr/src/linux/.config, it is not set, so I am assuming it is disabled.
unless its the version#2 = sis162, then you have some work ahead of you. im running 12.2, could not get it to compile, it seems its not compatible with 2.6 seeing that it mentions allot about the 2.4 kernel ..
the webpage that i found the driver is at
dude, that card has a rash all over it, i hate saying it, the developers gave up on it. i know its not "the slackware way" to give up, but jeez, please consider a new card. i recommend the ALFA AWUS036H 500mW
other than that... try reverting to the older kernel or staying with slack 12, slack12 wasn't that bad...anyway, i ripped my hair out for hours last night researching for you, and i can imagine how you feel hopeless...
CONFIG_4KSTACKS this should be disabled. or "not set" is the default. (as you mentioned.)
hold on ill keep looking for a solution, it would help if i had the actual card, i used too.. dont know what happened to it.
im running 12.2 if i get something compiled, ill let you know. but i have no way of testing it.
see if you can find a address for "j mercker" he might be willing to debug for you. or contact ndiswrapper for a bug report.
thats all i can do. other than that get a "new card"
