Dunno about the rest (I have 2 partitions, root and swap), but for filesystem, I recommend JFS (very low cpu usage) or XFS.

Do I need PPPsetup?

My internet connection is DSL, so I am thinking I do not need to configure PPPSetup even though I have a regular 56K modem card in addition to Gigabyte Etho Card that connects to an external 2WIRE GAteway. I used dialup before.

Probably not. I'm betting the modem will do all the authentication for you.

Slacking on & free

Just a note of gratitude for bringing me along to 13.37 enjoying music while I continue slacking with a function desktop that doesn't break.
