My Slackware 10.2 can't find SCSI disks on VMware Workstation 5?

Im using Vmware Workstation 5 trying to install Slack 10.2, but fdisk does not recognize my virtual SCSI drive, but it does recognize the virtual IDE drive.

when i'm trying to partition it, it says "unable to open /dev/sda", being "sda" the supposed drive to partition.

any help or reference would be appreciatted.

I've seen this problem with other distributions as well. You may opt to use the IDE virtual drive and or try booting with one of the other available kernels during the initial boot/install process.
