HI. there is another problem with my music on Slack!
I've upgraded from KDE 3.1.2 (cd installation) to KDE 3.2.2 and all went quite fine (it didn't start because of wrong linking in /etc/X11/initrc; anyway, fix it)...
ok i installaed even the new alsa driver and BANG! mp3s now play too fast! They play, but too fast... I've tried Xine, XMMS and Zinf but all with the same problem...
CDs instead play at normal speed and very well....
Can you downgrade to the older driver? I might do that then see if theres been any reported bugs with alsa and your sound card. You might try checking the alsa documentation as well.
you said CD's play fine, but mp3's play too fast...well, the first thing i would do is try playing some other types of audio files (wav, ogg, shn, flac) and see what they do. you probably want to encode them on another machine which works normally....
the second thing i would check on (esp. if it is only mp3's which are screwed up) is your mp3 codec. make sure it is installed. you might even want to wander over to linuxpackages.net and get the latest lame codec (4/22/2004).
its a couple of shots in the dark, but it can't hurt to check.....
