Mouse Doesn't work after i download/install ati drivers...
Ok, i have Slackware 10.1 with Dropline Gnome installed, i don't know why i did it this way but i installed ati video card drivers after the dropline gnome install, i followed these instructions:
rpm2tgz filename.rpm
installpkg filename.tgz
cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod
sh make.sh
cd ..
sh make_install.sh
but i couldn't modprobe these two steps for some reason:
modprobe agp-gart
modprobe intel-agp
so i went straight into:
fglrxconfig which worked fine, but now my mouse doesn't seem to be working...
my question is, could someone tell me where and what file i need to edit so i can get my mouse to work, if you just tell me where it is, i could post what my conf file looks like so it would be easier to find out whats wrong, anyways hope this is fixable, thanks for any help!
The key file here is /etc/X11/xorg.conf (it contain mouse information for X)
This would be really fast if you could do xorgconfig and configure the X WIHOUT ati's drivers (as in don't do fglrxconfig, instead do xorgconfig in console mode). Now copy /etc/X11/xorg.conf to something like /etc/X11/xorg.conf-back
Then do the fglrxconfig as usual and then we can compare the mouse sections of ATI generated xorg.conf and the X generated xorg.conf
During this whole process you don't have to ever uninstall fglrx or uninstall and reinstall anything at all. This is a pretty simple problem so let's have fun!
Copy/rename your current xorg.conf (at /etc/X11/xorg.conf) and then run xorgconfig to create a new xorg.conf. Then just compare the part that probably looks like this (but with your setting of course):
and then just change the lines in the old xorg.conf that differ from the new one. After that, name the old one xorg.conf again (and make sure it's in /etc/X11).
Hopefully that's clear enough
EDIT: missread your second post, in order to copy a file, you write
