Thumbs down MOBO L7VTA and Kernel

Hello people!

As u know, I´m in a nightmare trying to use my mouse under X.
After much reading, I know the main causes might be eighter Kernel 2.6
eighter USB support in my MoBo.

As I´ve said, my MoBo is a L7VTA.
My Mouse is a serial wheel mouse (/dev/mouse linked to ttyS0)
and my kernel I don´t know.
I´m using Slack 9.1 and don´t remember choosing kernel version on installation.
How can I know whith version do I have?
How to turn to kernel 2.4 (most estable - I think it will handle my mouse)?

Is this the true way?
Will I have a mouse on X?

I´ve already tried a lot of different protocols on XF86config and when I
choose GPM to run on booting everything crashes and I can´t even log on, so I have to reinstall my Slack (yes: I´ve tried to use boot disk from floopy and slack cd and boot fail).

thanks!

For slackware 9.1 the kernel will be 2.4.22 by default, and if you didn't upgrade any packages or recompile that should still be what you have. Other than that, you're using a serial mouse? I'm not quite sure of the setup you have right now.

Ok. Now I'm sure my kernel is 2.4.22.
What should I do now?
