Minor issues under 14.2 rc1

I got a few small problems so far under 14.2 rc1.
When I hit open containing folder under downloads in FireFox it opens Audacious

When I power down it powers down and then reboots

Any ideas ?

Hi,

You did a verify with md5sum check for the downloaded ISO? You checked the burnt image for a valid burn by verify of the written image?

I did not download an ISO. Just got all the stuff by FTP.

I did verify the written image that was burnt.

You might wanna take a look here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...t_applications

It's probably because of incorrectly set application defaults.

I suggest that you use;
Quote:
SlackwareŽ: -current <- 'You can use Alien_Bob's-script -mirror-slackware-current.sh <- To download -current, create cdrom/dvd Or Alien_Bob's-script -mirror-slackware-current.sh <- UK backup of script script to download the '-current' of choice ( 'x86' meaning 32bit or 'x86_64' meaning 64bit). + You can either pass parameters or edit the script to create the 'ISO' medium of choice. + Plus select a mirror to use. Or create a 'mirror-slackware-current.conf' by passing '-w' to the mirror-slackware-current.sh, the .conf file will be created in the same directory as the script file. You can edit 'mirror-slackware-current.conf' to suit your needs since the file is well documented. The script mirror-slackware-current.sh is well documented to allow you choices if you desire this route. + Alien_Bob is a SlackwareŽ contributor and has graciously provided the scripts/tools. So an ata-boy and a big Thank You to Alien_Bob.
You can configure the script using the definition above. That way the customize of what you actually desire can be accomplished.
Once you run the 'mirror-slackware-current.sh' script you will have a local tree and keeping current will be easier to generate a ISO that you can use to install.

Keeping a local tree will be a great advantage for you.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

I've seen that one before and it results from the mime-types not being correct, see for example https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...s/+bug/1196339 (see in particular comment 16). On my system that doesn't have this problem I get

Code:
[root@quasar:~] # cat /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache | grep directory
inode/directory=Thunar-folder-handler.desktop;audacious.desktop;
Bottomline not a problem with the download. Unfortunately I don't recall what I did to fix it...

How To Fix Firefox Annoyances
OPEN FOLDER CONTAINING opens Audacious instead of a file manager
http://docs.slackware.com/howtos:sof...fox_annoyances

There's probably a billion better ways to fix the inode/directory thing, but here's what I ended up putting in my rc.local
Code:
# Remove 'easytag.desktop;' from /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
sed -e s/easytag.desktop\;// /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache > /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.tmp
cat /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.tmp > /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
rm /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.tmp
I hope someone has a 1-liner or can share a better fix.

Edit: I just noticed that this was for easytag. Change yours to contain the audacious string instead.

OK it was the mimeinfo that was messing up firefox. That was real annoying

Not sure about the halt or shutdown -h now turning into a reboot

I doubt that there is anything funny about the downloaded files I have done this hundreds of times and never had a problem. I know what I need and how to create and burn a bootable image

Maybe something with the bios or the motherboard it's a few years old but seems to work fine. I use it for testing and running some games on that other OS
