Keyboard doesn't work correctly in kde or gnome

When I boot up to slackware 9.0, the keyboard behaves fine in the console. But as soon as I startx in eitherr kde or gnome, my keys type double characters if I type too fasst.

It kinda looks like tthis and iits reeally frustratinng. But thiis onlly happeens when running xwwindows. I aam using aa toshiba satalite pro 6100 with a nvidia 420.

i have set kbdrate to -r 30 -d 500 and it doesn't help the problem. Ii even turn the repeat off in preferences, and I sttill gett tthis crrap.

Coulld someone please help?

OK, the fix is really, easy! But hard to find documentation for. Edit your XF86Config file, probably /etc/X11/DF86Config and add the following line under

Section "InputDevice"

Identifier "Keyboard1"
Driver "Keyboard"

Option "XkbDisable"

I definitely feel your pain. It took me a month before I got this one. It was so discouraging, I almost gave up on Linux.... Almost...
