kde 4.12.5 NetworkManager

I installed KDE 4.12.5 from the read me file instructions and it works fine (so far) except for the Network Manager icon in the lower right corner is a computer with a red x. I was told in the read me file to uninstall it. When I installed Slackware 64 I did a full install, no prompting, so no libs should be missing. Also when I hold my mouse over the icon in the lower right corner it says the Network Manager is not running.

Go to /etc/rc.d/ and "chmod +x rc.networkmanager". That will make it executable the next time you boot or after the chmod just "/etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager start", leave off the quotes.

Did you prefer NM to be your default network manager during installation?

No, I picked DHCP. i DON'T always enter kde. I'll leave it the way it is. I just want to know if I can remove the NetworkManager icon from the bottom right or at least hide it. I tried remove panel, but that just takes the whole bottom bar away.

Solution to your problem has already been provided: make rc.networkmanager executable. My post provided the reason. I do not use KDE but NM handles my network. As long as your WM has a tray, it works.
