I dont know when k3b stopped working but have just gone to burn a disk and when opening it tells me
Quote:
No optical drive found.
K3b did not find any optical device in your system.
Solution: Make sure HAL daemon is running, it is used by K3b for finding devices.
I can boot from cd and can mount cds from within Slackware but for some reason k3b insists that i don't have a drive.
Hi Savo
are you running Slack 12.2 as your description says?
I have had some similar problems, but I am in -current, (with added complications that one of my optical drives failed)
Does k3b setup (from System Settings) fail to find your drive?
I am trying to remember what I did to fix the problem.
I am not certain, but I think I compiled a new kernel (2.6.34) which fixed it.
If it wasn't that, it was when I messed around in Actions Policy (System Settings, advanced).
I am also having similar problems. The strange thing is it's ok when I boot up the computer. Some time later the fault appears. I haven't got a clue what triggers the fault. There's only one way to cure it, and that's a reboot. I don't think it's a problem with K3B as "Device Notifier" can't see DVDs or CDs once it's happened.
Regards
Phil
