ISP login problem

My ISP has a "connection agent" by which I enter my username and password to access the internet. They were kind enough to launch a linux version.

The problem is that my ISP claims that the daemon(sifyd) and connection software (sifyconnect) can be run by non-root users. However when I launch the daemon as a non-root user, it starts using 100% CPU and the connection software does not work. (It simply exits without giving any error message and I remain disconnected from the net)

Is this one of the Slackware permission issues? How can I solve this problem?

have u checked ur log from

/var/log/messages

I searched for the word "sify" in /var/log/messages and found nothing. Is there something else I should look for?

as soon as u try to connect toi internet

then run

tail /var/log/messages

this will give u the last log

The time currently is 1:17PM. So I guess that means there is nothing in /var/log/messages, right?
