hello. my laptop has a intel gm965.when using "vesa" as driver in xorg.conf, the screen flicker with different color before starting into x.when i change the driver into "intel", it now flicker with different color when im shutting down the x.is this normal with my graphic card?or is there a better driver to use for my card?thanks in advance

The "intel" driver should work well on your system - see man intel for various driver options, but in general it's not uncommon for the screen to flicker when changing modes (ie when going from graphical to non-graphical and vice versa) This is mostly solved in the latest kernel and X version (neither of which are yet available in Slackware) with KMS - Kernelbased-Mode-Setting, where the kernel takes care of this in order to ensure flicker-free changes back and forth.

For more detailed help, you need to post some more system information, such as relevant parts from your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and lspci -v

thanks Yalla-One for the reply. its just that i dont encounter this kind of flicker when zenwalk 5.2 was still installed in my laptop. ill try to post /var/log/Xorg.0.log and lspci -v when im in front of my laptop.(writing this now in windows xp)
