installing source code

Hi guys

Just installed slack, and it's up and running. How do I know if the source code is installed or not.

I have the four disc, but wasn't asked for disc 3 or 4 during the installation, and that's where is source code is.

If the source code is not installed, how do I go about installing it?

Thanks

No, aside from the kernel, the source code hasn't been 'installed'. You don't need it unless you want to recompile software anyway, which you usually won't need to. If you really want to 'install the source code', go to the source dirctory on whichever CD it is, and cp -R * /usr/local/src/ (or wherever you want to put it).

The KERNEL source code probably IS installed if you chose a full install. Run 'pkgtool' and choose 'view the of files in a package' and it will give you a list of the installed packages. If 'kernel-source*' is not there, then mount your install CD1^and go to the /slackware/k folder and you'll find the KERNEL source code.
CD's 3 and 4 contain the source code for all the other packages.
