Installing kde 3.4

I've just reinstalled slackware just using disk 1. I'm planning to download kde 3.4 from linuxpackages and install it. Should it be straightforward or is there anything I need to do first. I noticed that kde comes packaged with qt on the slackware disk so if I haven't installed kde at all will it work? Thanks.

First why not install KDE from slackware.com ?
(it is version 3.4.2 from current)

KDE uses qt library, so you will need to install qt package

Also from the changelog, a new kde dependancy:

l/fribidi-0.10.5-i486-1.tgz: Added fribidi-0.10.5, needed by AbiWord and
KDE.

Somewhere around ftp://ftp.ditalinux.it/slackware/ditalinux-packages/slackware you can find i686 packages for KDE 3.4.2 as well.. Of course, if yours is more than an i486 or 586..
