Ok, here's my problem, when I installed linux I had windows installed, however after booting to windows it gave a whole shit load of errors and some weird network connection i couldn't get rid of, anyways I'm lazy and just "repaired" windows, however that got rid of lilo. No for the bad news, I had a boot floppy, but my dad was working on someone's computer and needed a floppy to make a 98 boot disk and well I wake up and there he is in front of my computer, no more floppy. Er, that was more of a rant, but can I use the cd to boot to linux and how do I a.) create a new floppy boot disk or b.) re-install lilo?
I think you can boot from the 2nd Slackware CD and boot with your root partition by indicate it at the prompt. Once booted you can make a boot floppy with the tool :
/sbin/makebootdisk
Boot up with the Slackware install cd, the first one. At the boot: option as if you were going to install it again, type something along the lines like this:
boot: linux root=/dev/hdXX
Where XX is the drive letter and number of where you installed the / partition for Slackware. This will boot your system up normally and then you can reconfigure lilo, run it, etc.
Yea I got it fixed it was all me and not you ??!!! Er yes it was hda2 I got everything fixed and have about 4 floppies with lilo on them placed strategicly around my room.... Thanks for the help no I'm off to get mysql, php. apache and telnet installed.....er and working.....correctly
