How do i install programs that I have installed on windows on Linux?

Hi,
I am a newbie but really interested in Linux.
I have red Hat 9.2 installed with XP and it went successful after linux corrupted a partition I keep my data. It was really painful.
Now, I want to install some softwares that i have been using in Windows evvironment on Linus. whenever I double-click the file, i get the message 'Nautilus does not have an installed viewer to view X' where X stand for the name of the program I was trying to install.
How can i resolve this problem?
I wanted to install a router simulator, some test engine, yahoo messenger and some other programs.
I intend to be fully using linux but for this problem.
please help out

you can't run your standard .exe windows binaries natively on linux. For certain software however, you can use a program called wine (http://www.winehq.com/) to run them.

For games, you can use WineX (http://www.transgaming.com/)

Best of Luck !

If you buy a $40 copy of crossover you can get a lot of win apps to run in linux, esp things like office etc... but it won't run all windows software.

For other software there are linux replacements - like Gaim for doing yahoo and MSN etc... The idea of linux is free software, and there are free linux apps to do most things...
