I logout in GNOME... and see corrupted screen.

I think is has been happening since I installed fglrx (had to use some special patches too). I press logout from gnome and I see a screwed up and frozen screen.
When I login on startup, the GDM turns out fine. But when I logout this happens.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks,
Shashir

X is using the wrong driver for your card. It's almost the right one, but not quite. Are you sure your card is fglrx compatible? Make sure, then try it again.

When asking a question like this it helps to add what distro you are running & a basic rundown of your system's hardware. Even better, go to your Linuxquestions.org config page, (on any page, scroll down to find "My LQ" on the right & click "Edit Profile") & enter all your details there.

Have you tried uninstalling fglrx & seeing if the problem still happens?
Check out http://xoomer.virgilio.it/flavio.sta...-supported.txt for a complete list of chipsets supported by the fglrx driver.

I posted this in the Slackware forum, so I use Slackware.

I am sure that my hardware is supported. It worked before. FGLRX and my r300 chipset Radeon. This is only happening in the latest 2.6.12 kernels. When I logout... instead of GDM, I get a corrupted screen.

Are you able to <ALT>F1, login, ps for GDM & kill it to force GDM to restart? What happens? Can you then log back in thru GDM & go thru the process again?
