Hulu on Slackware 14.2?

Hi all,

As most of you know Netflix works fine with newer versions of Firefox and Alien Bob's Chromium package, but I was thinking about trying out Hulu since a lot of my favorite shows are now being moved to Hulu (Greedy Pr***s, but that's another conversation). Can anyone confirm Hulu works in Linux natively?

Granted, I haven't tried it since they axed the free tier, but it didn't work in either chrome or Firefox. I think things have changed, however? (Last I tried it, it needed HAL, which, if memory serves, hasn't been used in distros in ages.)

Hulu free version worked without trouble for me on Slackware 14.2 multilib with AlienBob's Chromium. I currently watch view.yahoo.com oldies, which are actually links to hulu's old free shows with Google Chrome loaded from /extra folder of the DVD. I also could watch it on Chromium with the help of widevine, but I've moved on to PaleMoon because I became tired of the constant upgrades to Chromium. Cheers

Chrome from Google's site, if it can install in Slackware? It's what I've had to use in Debian, I wouldn't log into a Google account with It though...

Hulu works with Slackware64 and Firefox 52.5.2 on my box. You may have to install x264 and some other codec libs from Slackbuilds.org, for HD?, but I don't remember the details. Same for Alien Bob's chromium package. You don't need chrome spyware. I now usually watch via Roku (on 55-inch 4K UHD) or the ipad app, but I just check now and all is good. Years ago, there was a native linux binary but they dropped that one.

To get DRM video to play you may have to go to Preferences -> Content and check "Play DRM content" The widewine and openh264 plugins should magically appear.
