I have a HP photosmart C5180, it prints color via a USB cable and is also a copy machine and scanner. I am currently using the HPIJS and HPLIP drivers along with CUPS to work.
Through XSANE I can scan wonderfully.
Through firefox, I can print web-pages.
Through any KDE program, I am able to print color images or text, either KVIEW, KPDF, KWORD, etc.
But I would like to be able to print from GIMP. Certainly the capability is there. I just have not gained the right configuration to do so.
I was using the GIMP-PRINT plugin for gimp 4.2.7 as is stock from slackware 11.0, but no luck.
Then as the HPLIP website suggested (
http://hplip.sourceforge.net/howtos/printing.html ), I downloaded and installed 5.1.2 GUTENPRINT, which is the new replacement for GIMP-PRINT. I made sure to print via postscript level 2, but still I have no luck. Any ideas from the crowd here?
