I am not really sure what the problem is. I hope I can get some insight on the issue. Does anyone else have this problem?
First of all, I am not sure if I posted in the right place.
The problem: I have a HP PSC 1310 usb printer that only prints sometimes. When it does not print, I go to cups I find out that the print job is there. However when looking at the interface, "0 Local printer (Parallel,Serial,USB)" is not selectable. In other words de-selectable or appears to be off line. Sometimes when I turn the printer and computer off and restart printer then computer it works.
I know my usb ports are accessible because I have an ipod and mouse which is are still connected.

Hi okos:
I just did a clean install of 12.1 an added " LC_ALL=$LANG.UTF8 hp-toolbox " to the command section of the H P Dev Mgr icon in the "edit section of the icon" an the toolbox worked perfect.
You said your changed a few things on you system.
If it was me in your situation and because I'm still a Slack nubi I think I would start from scratch with a clean install, or at least try to restore your system to normal by running " slackpkg clean-system ".

Im still pretty new.
Could you explain slackpkg?
Is is like slapt-get?
Slackpkg is on the DVD in the extra folder.
Install it with eaither pkgtool or installpkg.
After you install it go to /etc/slackpkg and pick a mirror by removing the " # " in front of the mirror you want to use.
The from the root terminal run " slackpkg update " then try " slackpkg clean-system ". I've never used the slackpkg clean-system but from what I understand, it will restore the original packages to whats on the mirror.
Me new 2:
At my rather low skill level when I screw everything up I just start over again with a clean install.
Did that last night, and will probably mess everything up again real soon. I should change my user name to "hose&reinstall" :-)

LOL!
I think it is better to fix and learn. But... at times I have done both. Ive messed things up to where I pretty much had not choice but to reinstall. Other wise, I just try to fix the problem.
