How to install -current to external USBHDD & boot LILO successfully on another PC?

Here's what I did:

#1 Installed -current to an external USBHDD successfully, but could not boot up LILO. Does anyone know how to configure LILO properly to work in this mode? Perhaps with the use of UUID strings, boot manager etc?

#2 I want to boot the USBHDD on another PC (portable slackware in a sense). Could LILO be configured this way?

PS: BIOS boot order have been setup correctly, I've also tried manually specifying the device (via pressing F12 on my pc) but the boot sequence just skips usbhdd and loads LILO from /dev/sda1

Thanks

I did try your script and the corresponding amendments to fstab and lilo.conf. But how do I apply the procedure on another pc?

If I use the slackware installer ie. the setup program, it seems to change the swap partition and issue a new UUID.

Is there a way to specify parameters during LILO bootup sequence?

Thanks.

You should edit manually the config files. To find the required UUIDs use blkid.

These UUIDs are unique and will not be changed until you reformat the 'guilty' partitions. Then, they works in any system.
