The problem is the permission denied. What is the output of 'ls -l /dev/dri/card0'? It probably shows that it belongs to the video group, right? Is your user part of the video group?

Yeah!!! This was the problem.. I forgot to add the user to the video group.
Now I have real DRI enabled.

Now I have one more problem .. but I will study it later.
When I launch glxgears I get a black screen and I see only the mouse pointer. Hitting ESC I get back to the desktop ... the good news is that glxgears reports 2400 fps .. this means that DRI works ....

UPDATE:
I've done some other test...
- I have removed the line with the EXA option; DRI still works, I think that X automatically fall back to EXA when XAA doesn't work
- I searched on google about the black screen on glxgears. Seems to the be a mesa 7.5 bug. At the moment I tried some GL apps shipped with slackware 13.0 (Kubrick and GL screensavers) and GL seems to work. I tried to run also google earth, it works very smoothly.
- I'm using dual head (not clone) with xrandr. It works perfectly.. To have dual head working the only thing I've done was to add a line with

Now I'd like to find a GUI for xrandr but seems hard to find something good.
UPDATE #2:
slackware 13.0 is shipped with krandrtray, that's available also in the system settings tool.
But I can't find how to setup the dual head. The tool seems to handle only clone mode.
The only way I've found at the moment to handle dual head is to play manually with xrandr from command line
