hotplug is annoying me

I'm getting annoyed with this hotplug system that never seemed to bother me on slackware
9.1 ( I don't even know if it was on slack 9.1, I'm on slack 10.0 now).
The problem is, when I boot and it launches '/etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug start' it seems to take a very long time to run through that little script. So I took it out of my startup script (rc.M).
Now my system boots very quickly, but my network/internet connection doesn't get established
unless I run /etc/rc.hotplug start.

My question is, is there a way to get my network/internet up and running at boot time without using the hotplug system??

Thanks!

You can try loading the module for your network explicitly in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
Then the network should be started automatically on boot from rc.M with /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 start

this is what's so great about Slackware.........you can make your own
fine tuning adjustments............LOL

look thru that rc.m script....... and find the lines that initiate the network/internet.......and just add those lines to .................
..............rc.local

I tried loading the module via rc.modules. That worked great! Thanks!
