Question Patch for kernel 3.0.0.1 ?

I'm using Debian Squeeze.
Old Debian Lenny used proc/scsi, whereas Squeeze uses sysfs. The Highpoint raid cards use proc/scsi.

I've had a RocketRaid 640 sitting on the shelf for more than a year because the driver wouldn't compile on a 2.6 kernel even after enabling proc/scsi support.
I never found any patches back when I bought the card. I have tried to install the driver on Debian, FreeBSD & OpenSUSE. All with complete failure.

Anyway, I recently found myself upgrading to kernel 3.0.0.1 to solve a motherboard sound driver issue.
So, I would like to attempt installing this raid card yet again. This time with the 3.0.0.1 kernel.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a patch that would work for me ?

Well,

I've tried this one with the mentioned patches for the 2640 card with no luck. it keeps complaining about the kernel version but other than that, it compiles but does not install. If anyone knows how to fix that please let me know.

Unhappy

I upgraded to Kubuntu 11.10 (Kernel 3.0)on 10/14

I sent this to HighPoint Technlogy on 10/15

Problem Description
BIOS/Firmware Version: 1.8
Driver version: rr232x-ubuntu-9.04-x86_64-v1.9.09.0714.tgz___
WebGUI version: _______
Operating System: _Kubuntu 11.10 64-bit
Motherboard Asus M2n-SLI____________________
System BIOS version: _______
System memory size: ___8GB____
HDD Model: ____WD 2TB___________________
HDD Firmware version: _______
RAID Configuration: _______________________

Other configuration information:
Kubuntu 11.10 kernel is 3.0 and using linux-headers-3.0.0-12

driver complains that kernel version is 2.0 and quits

"make
../../../inc/linux/Makefile.def:85: *** Only kernel 2.4/2.6 is supported but you use 2.0. Stop."

need a new driver for kernel 3.0

response on 10/16 from HighPoint

Dear Sir or Madam,

No driver available and no specific date of updating plan to come out.Sorry for the inconvenience.

I guess the Linux Kernel 3.0 is too new. the shell scripts explicitly check for 2.4 and 2.6 kernels only

the rr232x.ko file has to be compiled and installed for the RAID card to work.
