I found good program to replace the legendary hard to install gnucash. It is grisbi. Not bad. www.grisbi.org
Dont forget to install the dependencies. Not much. Just three.
I had given up trying to install GnuCash. I think one of the few distros that it seems to work on is MDK and possibly Fedora. It just doesn't seem to work well with Slack unfortunately.
