I have too many scripts I probably *should* have rewritten, but they work well enough so meh..
Indeed. My "get the Slackware updates" script is at least 8 years old (or that's the last time it needed changing, it is most likely older) and my mirror goes (as far as the patches dir goes) back to release 7.0 - although the scripts most likely started somewhere around 10.x - my main system was on 10.2 (about 2005) for quite some time.
For a still older (486) system that I mostly keep for sentimental reasons (it was my AND my job's first Linux system) I got a full updated mirror of Slackware 4.0 too, but that most certainly wasn't made through these scripts.
My mirror in some versions (especially 9.x and 10.0) has the GUS-BR updates too that were created when Pat was in hospital and couldn't maintain Slackware for some time:
Quote:
The community recently knew that Patrick will be absent to take care of his
health. Bruno Henrique Collovini (aka Buick Sk), Ernani Azevedo (aka Azevedo,
Man Slackpacks), and Roberto Freire Batista (aka Piter Punk) from GUS-BR
Community will be keeping this fork ONLY with bugfixes for the Slackware while
Patrick is out.
Patrick had problems in order access slackware.com, and agree using
slackware.org.br as a Security Fixes repository to Slackware Stable and Current
as well.
FYI Newsbeuter development has moved over to Newsboat, I seem to remember Newsbeuter having some security issues that Newsboat has since fixed.
Thanks for info !
Indeed, can't see any differences and the switch couldn't have be easier :-) I just wonder how painful it might have be to do the slackbuild ! I only noticed because I modified it to grab latest version...

Yeah the rust SlackBuilds look rough, but hopefully the .info file is generated programmatically..

I know on my redeclipse SlackBuild, I used some shell commands to get my md5sums generated, but the links to all the downloads I needed to find by hand (especially after their last main update didn't have matching updates in most of the secondary repos, so I had to use commits for each download).
Luckily, I was able to extract all the contents using a pretty simple for loop.
