Kernel 4.2 (which left the release candidate phase on Aug 30) please. 4.2 is the first version to work properly with my 2015 Macbook Pro's trackpad.

Well, not technically, but it is PLANNED to be an LTS kernel:

As Torvalds said:

Which wouldn't be a bad thing, considering that 4.1 will also be a LTS release.

After 5 months, a week, and a few days, SeaMonkey 2.35 has been released.

The announcement hasn't been posted to their website, yet, but the source code is available.

Seems we're pretty far behind on syslinux: the latest is 6.03, -current has 4.06. I've been using extlinux 6.03 (and older versions) with the slackbuild in -current for years with no problems.

EDIT: Backing out the request to update to 6.03, given Didier's post below - perhaps 4.07 would be more appropriate for the time being, or 6.1x when it's released.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading to 6.03 at time of writing because of remaining bugs. Better wait for 6.04 that should be a bug fix release (possibly followed by 6.10 with merge of multifs and probably 6.11 with an updated gnu-efi according to Gene Cumm in a recent post to the Syslinux mailing list).

Despite the bugs 6.03 is nice because it can handle EFI booting (and I have provided Slint installers with it for testing purpose here: http://slint.fr/testing/).

Unfortunately the Sylinux-6.03 EFI image can not be used to boot off optical media on UEFI firmware, so in Slackware64 DVD ISO installer it can't replace Grub.

And AFAIK there is no plan to add that ability to Syslinux 6.04 which should be strictly a bugfix release[1].

So my recommendation is to just upgrade to 4.07 in -current. That should be safe.

[1]If anyone wonders why Grub EFI images can boot off optical media in UEFI mode whilst Syslinux ones can't, here is the answer I received from hpa (H. Peter Anvin) on the Syslinux ML a while ago:
Code:
Because Grub boots the kernel in a "hostile" way (not using the stub.)
Have a look at Documentation/efi-stub.txt to know more, alas I didn't yet so that's all I know, sorry.

EDIT Looks nice, maybe I could try to avoid using a boot loader setting a built-in command line (or setting the command line from the EFI shell, but I don't know if my firmware allows that). Sorry for the OT remark.

Since KDE 5 is nowhere near ready for prime time (fine by me ), it would be nice to see the available maintenance updates for KDE 4.14.3.

... combined with the (now usual) build to i586, that will be a spectacular update!

I would imagine that KDE 5 would be saved for Slackware 15.

Looking at KDE5 (literal and rhetorical) ugly state, I dare to bet for shipping it in Slackware 16, in the best case...

BTW, in previous post, I talked about updating the KDE4 and rebuilding it for i586. You should see to understand what "favor" we do to KDE4, being on using it with build ARCH set to i486. Sure, it works, but just somewhat better than the SnailFox who popped into Slackware-current some time ago...

Thanks, Didier - I wasn't aware of these problems and clearly you have more experience dealing with recent versions of syslinux than I do, so I've backed out my request for 6.03 above.

Internally, Syslinux-6.03 might not have too many issues but the installation bootmedia would still be locked to the one currently available.

Perhaps relegation into /testing might be warranted?
