Using Slackware-current,

# cat /etc/crypttab:
daniellhome /dev/sda10

$ mount |fgrep home
/dev/sda9 on /home
/dev/mapper/daniellhome on /home/daniell

Every time I reboot or shutdown the machine, after umounting every fs the shutdown process hangs at "Locking LUKS crypt volume 'daniellhome':".
/etc/rc.d/rc.{0,6} would execute `/sbin/cryptsetup luksClose daniellhome`, but it just stays there infinitely.
On the other hand, when I execute the same steps as in that part of the shutdown scripts, I can luksClose that particular luks device.
This is the only luks device on the machine.

Any ideas?

Sorry to post in such an old thread but I am having exactly the same problem on Slackware current. Did you ever fix this? The only way I can shut down is to force power off when it's showing the Locking LUKS crypt volume message.

Never had the chance to work around this. But by now, I got rid of that system, and a new one with e.g LVM + luks for the full disk encrypted, this surprisingly works. Don't know what's up with that....
