Can't run shell scripts I write?


Writing shell scripts as root. I save and try to execute one and it gives the following error

sh: ./shell: Permission denied

you need to make it excutable.


chmod +x filename.sh

Have you made the script executable, like this?:

chmod a+x scriptname
