Can't play Flash videos after hardware downgrade

Hi,

My workhorse PC unfortunately just broke down. Until I can figure out what exactly is broken and if I can repair it, I replaced it with the Shuttle PC that I'm normally using as a jukebox, e. g. for webradio in the living room.

Here's the specs:

Code:
[kikinovak@alphamule:~] $ cat /proc/cpuinfo

[kikinovak@alphamule:~] $ free -m

[kikinovak@alphamule:~] $ /sbin/lspci | grep -i vga

I'm using NVidia's recommended proprietary driver for the card, and I have two monitors in twinview configuration attached to it.

Only problem so far (and one that I've been more or less become accustomed to over the years, alas): I can't play Adobe Flash videos. There's just a black rectangle showing in place of the video.

I'm running Flash Player version 11.2.202.243-i386 on this machine.

As usual with Adobe Flash problems, I'm clueless. Any suggestions?

Apparently, flashplayer 11 requires the cpu to have the "sse2" feature, and yours does not. I got that from this thread

I think the only way around it is to use Flashplayer 10.

I just installed Flashplayer 10.3.183, and it works indeed.

I made a package for the benefit of others who may be in the same situation and put it in my repo:

http://www.microlinux.fr/slackware/14.0/ChangeLog.txt

Code:
Thu Jan 17 09:27:37 CET 2013
pasture/flash-player-plugin-legacy-10.3.183.11-i386-1_microlinux.txz: Added.
This is the legacy version of the Adobe Flash Player for CPUs that don't come
with the "sse2" feature. Special thanks to ljb643 on LQ.
Cheers from the freezing South of France,

Niki
