Question Blank Screen with Ati driver

Hi,
First of all i wrote this question here because I did the same things on FC4 and worked all fine. I have just installed the Slackware 10.2 and made an xorgsetup. And the X system is working fine. But while switching between the terminals and the X system, sometimes it hangs and i can't do anything.
I decided to install the ati driver 8.24.8. I have done the same procedure that i did in FC4. These are what i have done after installing the driver:

aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
aticonfig --resolution=1280x800,1024x768,800x600

Then i reboot and startx.
It seems like it is starting X but it goes blank screen of "death". I can't do anything, so i had to hard reboot.
By the way, I have:
kernel 2.6.13
ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M series 128mb ram
I hope this info is enough.
Any one has a suggestion?

You are not alone! I've been trying to get an answer to this problem for a while (see my posts).
I hope you get some suggestions.

I put a fix to this on cwwilson's thread he recommended. The log on/out problem is known and the fix is in that thread

Hi, thanks for the suggestions.
I think there are a lot of good information out there. I have to read a lot
I tried adding the option "NoDRI" "yes" to the xorg.conf. It just worked surprisingly. But I guess this is not the solution, I don't get any direct rendering in this case and I am only able to use the console terminal 6, i mean "f6".
