Bad ISO CD-ROM
Dear All.
I have problem to make a good CD-ROM.
I got the ISO Image from a FTP mirror by using Windows IE 5.5.
I wrote it to the CD by using Nero CD Burner (image mode).
The burning was successfull, no error.
Ok, so I boot my computer from that CD.
But It did not work, the computer by passed the CD and load Windows.
The computer is all right, since it can boot Windows boot CD as well Redhat boot CD.
So from Windows, I tried to browse the CD.
I found that I can explore the entire CD, and read the files in the root directory of the CD (COPYRIGHT.TXT, FAQ.TXT, etc).
However, I can not read the files in the subdirectories (isolinux, kernel, and slackware).
Please tell me where is the problem.
Maybe the downloaded iso image is corrupt. How can I checked it ?

do you think nero may have done something strange,
like make the disk multisession or something weird?
make a boot floppy from the images on the cdrom, if
there are any. make another disk on a cdrw just to test.

I'm not sure.
But I have made some others bootable CD (trustix, smoothwall, clarkconnect) without any problem.

I can't do that.
As I said, I can not read any files that is not in the root directory. In fact, I knew that problem when
I was trying to install loadlin.
I could not copy /kernels/loadlin.zip, as well as /isolinux/initrd.img to the hard disk.
The Windows said, "Error: the device attached to the system is not functioning".
The ISO should be bootable. You need to make sure that the CDROM device is before IDE-0 (your hard drive) in the boot order. Like snocked said, did you make sure that your BIOS has CDROM set as the 1st boot device?
It shouldn't be a problem with boot order, since you can boot from the Windoze or RedHat CDs. If you have RedHat (or any linux) already installed, you could try snocked's other suggestion of checking the md5sum of your ISO and compare it with the value given at the FTP site from which you downloaded. If you don't have any Linux installed now, you can use Tom's rootboot (http://www.toms.net/rb/). It has md5sum included. This way, you can check to see if it is a 'Bad ISO'
