ATI driver install

Hello!
I tryed to search forum, web, etc...but I didn't find any answer to my problem (if there is one at all). I was following guides from this forum, web, unofficial wiki for ati drivers...on how to install ati proprietary drivers on Slackware. I downloaded Ati drivers from official web page, create Slackware package, install it with installpkg, create initial xorg.conf file with aticonfig --initial command, blacklisted radeon driver (i don't know why installer script didn't do it automatically) and now everything works. I've got working X environment but one problem bothers me. When I run glxinfo or fglrxinfo I get an error message. With glxinfo it is 'unable to open display' and with fglrxinfo it is 'unable to open display (null)'. Is this mean that something is wrong or should I ignore that.
Thanks!

Are you running those commands as the same user that's logged into X?

I was accessing my terminal all the time with combination of ctrl+alt+f1 or f2...and I get that error message. Now I tryed from kde press alt+f2 and then run xterm. Issue those same commands again and now it is ok Regardless under which account I issue commands (i tryed with root and my normal account which I'm loged on and both worked)
How's that possible? Isn't xterm just the emulator to access my tty, shouldn't it bee the same if I access my terminal through the key combination or running xterm???

When you launch an X application, it has to connect to a running X server. If you run it from the console, it doesn't have the necessary connections to any running X server.
