Yeah thats a good website, lots of valuable info. I will try to optimize as much as I can. In the meantime I wonder how reiser will affect performance for the SSD. Seems they recommend ext4 ?!

Umm no the Journal is not for recovering from bad sector reads or low level hard drive corruption, its there to make sure you data and meta-data is sane after a unplanned shut-down/reboot.
