I'm a little confused with the changelog and the updates that i get from my mirror when i run slackpkg update.
I see the change log , change with security updates every day and when i try to update update from my mirror with slackpkg i get nothing for days sometimes weeks? Eventually ill get a couple of packages that need to be upgraded. Is this because my mirror isnt updating regularly ?? And if so does anyone know and good mirrors that update reguarly??
I usually run
slackpkg update
slackpkg upgrade-all
(but most of the time get nothing)
Which version of Slackware are you running?
Please note that in stable the updates are not that frequent. It is the current branch that gets updates on a regular (sometimes daily) basis.
if you are using a -Stable, then you won't see much update as in -Current, because -Stable only has updates for security vulnerabilities. You won't get new version in -Stable
Alrighty thanks for your help guys. I've got it now i was worried because when i used to use ubuntu it use to update every day .... sometimes twice a day !!

Simply because Ubuntu is released at a specific date, not when it is ready, so they have to fix a lot of bugs after release.
By default you *should* run install-new before upgrade-all, except in very specific situations that are likely to be pointed out in the change log. This is because an important package may have a new dependency, and it has to be installed first. If not, your system could be left broken in the middle of upgrade-all.
