ALSA Woes!? And KDE sounds

I'm having trouble with my sound...
I'm running alsa-driver-1.0.7rc2 and Slackware 10
Sound in Mplayer and xmms work fine, but KDE sounds do not work.
Before it complained I didn't have /dev/dsp but I ran snddevices and it made the links... but that didn't solve the problem. Now it says like trying to open defualt sound device.. or something and it doesnt work.
If I try to run quake 2 it says :

------- sound initialization -------
/dev/dsp: Broken pipe
Could not toggle.
Segmentation fault

output of lsmod gives me
Code:

what sound card are you using?

if you go to the alsa website, it can tell you what modules need to be running for your sound card to work. then i would do a lsmod, to see if those mods are loaded, if not load them with a modprobe. If it can't find the modules. then recompile alsa with the modules according to the instructions on the alsa webpage.

KDE 3.3 by chance?

There is a recent thread here at LQ/slackware if it is the case.
(same or similar problem?)

Info contained there fixed some peoples problems, others it didn't (yet).
