Alsa problem - No sound from headphones

I don't know if you ever looked at my previous thread about my sound issues with the asus a52j notebook - at first when i plug in my headphones i was getting sound output both from the laptop speakers and the headphones, then i tried changing the sound.conf file and still no success and then i tried reinstalling the alsa - i downloaded the latest alsa-driver and alsa-lib and installed them, but when i rebooted there was no more sound from the headphones when i plug them in. I don't know what to do, i tried reinstalling alsa multiple times but still no success. Is there any way to bring back my previous configuration when i installed slackware ? Or some way to roll back using the installation dvd ? If anyone has some ideas, please help me, thank you.

Slackware ships with alsa-lib, alsa-oss, and alsa-utils. Depending upon how you installed
alsa-driver and alsa-lib, you could "removepkg alsa-driver" and "upgradepkg alsa-lib"
to the version your particular Slackware <version> shipped with.

You would also need to restore any files you edited to their original state. How to do
that depends upon what files you've changed. And afaik alsa-driver depends upon the
kernel in Slackware now -- CONFIG_SND in the kernel enables the ALSA sound system.

There is, of course, a lot of stuff in the distro kernel that you will never need on your
system ... put there so it Should Just Work on all systems. You will find many issues
disappearing from your system with a custom kernel instead.

There is a thread concerning your problem here. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1460790
Looks like you will need a kernel 2.6.35.5 or later (Slackware -current just got updated to 2.6.35.7).
You will need to supply 'model=hp-laptop' to the snd-hda-intel kernel module.
You may have to patch the snd-hda-codec-conexant.ko kernel module.

PS - Google works much better for me now that you have supplied your laptop model.
